Sharing the Fruits of Labour

Fruit trees are absolutely wonderful to have in your yard. Not only do they provide your family with delicious and healthy treat, but also a cool shade in the summer and a great view from your window.

Fruit picking is a fun but time consuming task, and while the fruits are shared between family and friends, often times they go to waste. It may be that you don't have the time or energy to pick all that the tree bears.

For whatever reason it may be, an organization called 'Not Far From the Tree' operates a 'residential fruit-picking program'. They would help fruit tree owners by sending their volunteers to harvest the fruits. One third of the fruits goes to the fruit tree owner, another third to the volunteers for the labour and the final third is distributed to community organizations in the neighbourhood.

There is no reason for the scrumptious treats to go to waste. Find out if the program is available in your area and register your tree here or call 416-908-3022.
